Circuit construction to receive F-1 would affect Camboatá forest area

The construction of a racetrack in Deodoro, estimated at R$ 697 million, could result in the overthrow of about 180,000 of the 200,000 trees scattered in the Camboatá forest in the western zone of Rio de Janeiro.

The total area of the forest is 201 hectares. Of these,169 hectares include tree vegetation according to a report made by the Directorate of Scientific Research of the Botanical Garden of Rio de Janeiro at the request of the Federal Public Ministry (MPF). Much of this area would be affected by the construction of the circuit.
