Chinese-Portuguese translation system in Macau focuses on artificial intelligence

The Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries and the Macau Polytechnic Institute (IPM) agreed to use a Chinese-Portuguese translation system based on artificial intelligence.

According to a note from the Forum distributed to the press, it is an "auxiliary system of Chinese-Portuguese / Portuguese-Chinese translation of official documents," and it is expected that this cooperation will give a new impetus to the construction of the services plataform for trade cooperation between China and the Portuguese-speaking countries."

The coordinator of the Supporting Office to the Permanent Secretariat to the Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-Speaking Countries, Teresa Mok, stressed that the use of new technologies such as "big data" and artificial intelligence will enable Chinese-Portuguese translation to be elevated to another "level of requirement, accuracy and efficiency."

Citing the same note, the president of the IPM, Marcus Im Sio Kei, explained that the "Chinese-Portuguese / Portuguese-Chinese auxiliary translation system of official documents" developed by the institution is based "on the most advanced technology, using artificial intelligence."
