During weekends and holidays the allowed time rises to three hours.

Ninety minutes a day until 10 pm: This is the new limit imposed by the Chinese government for children and young people under 18 years old who want to play video games on weekdays. On weekends and holidays the time doubles as the allowance is three hours per day.

The new rules, announced Tuesday, are meant to counter what the Communist Party government says is an addiction that is "damaging the physical and mental health of minors". These are the latest official measures to control the Chinese online gaming industry, one of the largest in the world.
