The largest sports integration project involving refugees and migrants in Brazil is held in Brasilia this weekend. The stage of the Refugee and Immigrant Football Cup in the Federal District has the participation of 160 amateur players, 20 in each national team.
Participants represent teams from their home countries, primarily from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Cape Verde, Ghana, Pakistan, Haiti, Guinea, Colombia, and Venezuela.
The theme of the Refugee and Immigrant Cup 2019 is "Take a minute to listen to someone who has left their country." In all, the competition involves approximately 1,120 athletes from 39 nationalities, bringing together refugees and migrants.
