Beijing will use face recognition technology to speed up city subway controls.

The system will classify passengers on the basis of their security "credit," state media reports. During rush hour, China's subway stations register long lines of people waiting to pass security controls in a city of 20 million people.

The city administration wants to install cameras to scan the faces of passengers when they enter a subway station. Then people will be classified and directed to different security controls, said Zhan Minghui, director of the Beijing Rail Traffic Control Center.
