Study by researchers from 17 countries, published last week by the journal Nature Geoscience, warns that global warming may be twice as bad as estimated and that sea levels could rise to as high as six meters. This is true even if the world meets the goal of the Paris Accord: to keep the global average temperature below 2 ° C

Much has been said about the importance of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change and also about the fact that President Donald Trump has announced that he intends to withdraw the United States from that agreement.

This Friday, in Porto, at the Climate Change Leadership conference, his predecessor, Barack Obama, mentioned the issue. "What we understand is that with the Paris Agreement (...) it is still possible to gather the countries on a common agenda, " he said, noting that "the problem of climate change transcends borders" and it is not possible for a country "to solve this problem by itself."
