The President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker said that the EU and China agreed to remove barriers in order to have bilateral access to markets.
The statement was given at a news conference after a summit between the parties, attended by Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang. In the event, it was not detailed what these barriers would be.
Juncker also said that the Chinese government has "explicitly" agreed to avoid the forced transfer of technology. According to him, European investment in China has increased in 2018, but it is possible to achieve better results. The authority also stressed the need for "reciprocity" in the bilateral relationship.
