Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa reacted to the RTP report that indicated that the Military House of the Presidency of the Republic knew about the cover-up of the Tancos theft case.

On a visit to Madeira, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa raised his voice about the case of the guns and ammunition stolen from the Tancos depots: "If they think they can shut me up, they are wrong."

The President of the Republic reacted to "political speculation" and, in particular, to the report of RTP's commentary program Sexta às Nove, during which it was inferred that the head of State was aware of the alleged cover-up of the missing material, since it the former director of the Military Judicial Police (PJM) had made "several contacts with the former head of the Military House of the Presidency of the Republic", General João Cordeiro, "before and after the recovery of the guns"
