The Taiwanese President, Tsai Ing-wen, proclaimed her victory this Saturday in the presidential elections held on this island with 23 million inhabitants and this will be crucial to the future of her relations with China.

"Taiwan is showing the world how much we appreciate our nation's free and democratic lifestyle," the leader told reporters. Her main opponent, Han Kuo-yu, accepted his defeat and called the current president to congratulate her.
