South African President apologizes for xenophobia

On Saturday, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa apologized for the violence against foreigners that has erupted in the country, ensuring that his countrymen 'are not xenophobes'.

Speaking in the Zimbabwean capital, where he attended the funeral of former Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe, Ramaphosa was booed by the crowd watching the funeral ceremonies in a stadium.

'I stand before you as an African brother who mourns and apologizes for what has happened in my country', said Cyril Ramaphosa, adding that the riots 'go against the principle of unity of the African people'.
