Portuguese Minister of Foreign Affairs met on Monday with his Venezuelan counterpart on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York
Augusto Santos Silva met with his Venezuelan counterpart Jorge Arreaza on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly this Monday. On the table was the detention of Portuguese nationals and Portuguese descendants, supermarket managers in Venezuela by the regime of Nicolás Maduro.
"It was a very harsh conversation. It was not a normal diplomatic meeting. I asked for immediate access to the arrested by the consular authorities and our diplomatic representation in Caracas", said the Portuguese Minister of Foreign Affairs to the reporters in New York after finishing the meeting with the Venezuelan Foreign Minister.
