The Federal Police in Juiz de Fora (MG) has launched an investigation on the attack on presidential candidate Jair Bolsonaro (PSL). Bricklayer Adelio Bispo de Oliveira, 40, was arrested on the spot.
For the Military Police, the attack on the deputy was premeditated. Police are looking for cell phones, documents or any other clues that could clarify whether the perpetrator acted alone or had help.
The governor of Minas, Fernando Pimentel (PT), stated that Oliveira did "not look like a very sane person". "We have put the state's entire security apparatus on hand to investigate this case," he told the State. Pimentel also reported that, because the case involved a presidential candidate, "protocol demands that the occurrence is reported to the Federal Police."
One of the coordinators Bolsonaro's campaign, parliament member Francischini (PSL-PR) said that he would work with the FP to investigate the possibility of the attack constituting a "political crime"
