On Thursday, the former president received visits from the journalist Pilar del Rio, widow of the Portuguese writer José Saramago, and former President Dilma

According to the Spanish journalist Pilar del Rio, who heads the Saramago Foundation, Brazil "is seen with perplexity in Europe", while during Lula's administration, between 2003 and 2011, the country was seen as a power.

"I saw the leader I met many years ago, a man with clear ideas. It is exciting to know that he is whole and lucid," Del Río said.

Sentenced in Lava Jato, Lula has been imprisoned in a closed regime since April 7, 2018
