João Lourenço has met with decision-makers in Abu Dhabi.

Angolan President João Lourenço spoke to key decision-makers, ministers, ambassadors and international sustainable development experts today in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates).

João Lourenço is in Abu Dhabi following an invitation from local authorities to attend the Sustainability Week (ADSW), which takes place every year in the United Arab Emirates.

The purpose of the event is to develop a better understanding of the major societal, economic, and environmental trends, to encourage knowledge sharing, to implement strategies, and to provide solutions to drive progress.

In addition to the ADSW opening ceremony, the Angolan president has also attended the Zayed Sustainability Prize function.

João Lourenço was accompanied by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

The Zayed Sustainability Prize is a tribute to the legacy of the founder of the United Arab Emirates, the late Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who was a staunch advocate of environmental stewardship and global sustainability.

The award comprises five categories: health, food, energy, water, and global high schools.

The Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, which will end on January 19, encompasses the IRENA General Meeting, the Future Summit, the Technological Festival of the ecological city of Masdar, forums on Energy Transition and Solar Energy, and the Future Energy World Summit.

The week will also include debates on 'Youth Skills for Sustainability', 'Climate Innovation Exchange', 'Water-Energy-Food', 'Technology for Good', and a forum on 'Sustainable Finance'.

The organizers expect the presence of about 30,000 energy and environment players, including 800 exhibitors from 40 countries and 250 speakers.

Exhibitors include countries such as Jordan, Morocco, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, the United States, South Africa, North Korea, Japan, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, France, Canada, and Colombia.
