In Cape Verde, a stopover on the trip to Angola, the President stated that the main message that he is taking is to consolidate a "new cycle" on all levels
Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa spoke to reporters at the end of a visit to the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary, in the Old Town, Cape Verde.
When asked about the main message that he will carry to Angola, the head of state said that it is about "consolidating this new cycle at the economic, financial, social, cultural, educational and political levels, working in a record time - about six months - in all domains."
For the Portuguese head of state, it is "a new cycle that, moreover, corresponds to a new cycle of the Angolan political life and the relationship with Portugal."
Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa arrived at Cape Verde on Sunday evening and will leave this afternoon towards São Tomé, on stopovers on the trip to Angola.
The Portuguese president will arrive in Luanda on Tuesday to attend the anniversary of the Angolan head of state, who turns 65, but officially his visit begins the next day, the most important day in terms of political discussions.
