The president of the Republic of Angola has authorized the expenditure of 1.9 billion kwanzas (about 5.2 million euros) for the acquisition of vehicles for the presidential security units.
The Presidential Security and Presidential Guard units will receive 82 new vehicles. An acquisition authorized by João Lourenço, through a presidential decree, involving the sum of 1.9 billion kwanzas (about 5.2 million euros).
The purpose of this purchase, according to the presidential decree, quoted by Novo Jornal, is "to ensure the improvement of working conditions, efficiency and effectiveness of the respective activities" of the two operating units.
The same document also indicates that the expenditure will be made through a simplified contract "taking into account the urgency in said acquisitions and the impossibility of complying with the deadlines established for compliance with the formalities inherent in the other procurement procedures."
