The PSL candidate for the presidency of the Republic, Jair Bolsonaro, declared on Saturday (18), that Brazil will leave the United Nations (UN) if he is elected president.
Bolsonaro's statement was made in response to the question about how he evaluated the UN Human Rights Council's recommendation that the country allows former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) to participate in the presidential election."If I'm elected president, I will leave the UN. This institution serves no purpose," Bolsonaro told reporters after a cadet graduation ceremony at the Agulhas Negras Military Academy (Aman) in Resende, southern Rio de Janeiro.
