Human rights: "Portugal and China don't have to agree on everything"

José Augusto Duarte, Portuguese ambassador to Beijing

Portugal's ambassador to China says that what brings Portugal and China together is much stronger than what separates them. Discussing the Portuguese president's visit to China, José Augusto Duarte says the two countries have excellent relations.

Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa leaves today for a six-day visit to China. In his agenda, the Portuguese president brings economic and cultural issues, but also politics and human rights. In an interview with TSF, José Augusto Duarte, the Portuguese ambassador to China who helped prepare this trip, says that human rights will certainly be discussed, but argues that what brings the two countries together is much bigger than what separates them.
