Anti-government protesters took over access roads at the Hong Kong Airport after a group clashed with the police in the airport bus terminal area.
Hundreds of young people dressed in black are concentrated in the area. Some threw objects at the airport express railway line, whose services were suspended this afternoon.
Many passengers have been moving to the airport on foot as the surrounding roads are blocked by the protests. This action by the protesters comes two weeks after protests led to the temporary closure of the airport and the cancellation of nearly 1,000 flights.
The tension in Hong Kong experienced moments of further violence yesterday as a result of clashes between protesters and police. At least 40 people were arrested in Hong Kong following unauthorized protests on Saturday, during which 31 people were injured, five in serious condition, officials said.
