The Supreme Court of Justice has announced the deadline for political parties to submit their lists of candidates for the March 10 general elections.
Guinea-Bissau's Supreme Court has issued a statement today saying that the country's political parties must submit their general election candidacies by January 10. The elections are scheduled for March 10.
"The General Secretariat of the Supreme Court of Justice reminds all legally registered political parties intending to run for the general elections on March 10, 2019, that the deadline for submitting the lists of candidates ends on January 10," the press release reads.
According to the Supreme Court, candidacies must be submitted on paper or digital media. The court emphasizes that candidates must also submit a certificate proving that they have met all their tax obligations.
Guinea-Bissau will hold general elections on March 10. The election was initially scheduled for November 18, but financial and technical difficulties forced the authorities to postpone the voter registration process and the election date.
