The government will officially hand over the remains of the founding leader of UNITA, Jonas Savimbi, to his family. This will happen on the 28th of this month. The process will take place in the city of Luena, capital of the province of Moxico.
In a note, the Multisectoral Commission for the Exhumation, Carriage and Burial Process of Jonas Savimbi's Deadly Remains states that the 29th of the current month is the indicative date for the burial ceremony. Jonas Savimbi died in combat on February 22, 2002, in the town of Lucusse, Moxico province. He was buried days later in the cemetery of the city of Luena. On February 31 of this year (2019), the remains of the former UNITA leader were exhumed to collect samples for ADN testing.
Meeting this Tuesday (14), under the coordination of the Minister of State and Head of the Security House of the President of the Republic, Pedro Sebastião, the Commission decided to divulge the results of the ADN test next Monday (20).
