China will impose sanctions on US companies involved in arms sales worthing $ 2.2 billion to Taiwan

"Arms sales to Taiwan by the United States constitute a serious breach of fundamental rules of international law and international relations," Geng Shuang, spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, said in a statement, without specifying the nature of the sanctions.

Geng made the statement after the United States announced a plan to sell $ 2.2 billion (1,9 billion euros) of arms to Taiwan, an island which is claimed by Beijing as part of its territory.
