At 29, Ocasio-Cortez 'beats' Trump and is the youngest woman in Congress

Of Puerto Rican origin, she defeated the candidate of the party of the American president

New York Democratic Party nominee, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, fulfilled the predictions and won the 14th district, becoming the youngest woman to reach the United States Congress at the age of 29.

According to the election forecasts, since on Wednesday morning the results have not yet been fully determined, Ocasio-Cortez has swept Anthony Pappas, the Republican candidate for the district, which includes the Bronx and Queens, with votes over 75%.

The young politician, who thus beat Donald Trump's party, is from New York, and admitted that she was experiencing a "surreal" feeling of seeing her name in the House of Representatives, expressed her thanks to the voters for becoming the youngest woman in US history to achieve such a feat.

"It's something quite special, it's a very exciting time for me and my mother. I was born on this neighborhood and to vote and have my name in this role is something incredible, there are no words," said in Spanish the Democrat candidate, who is of Puerto Rican origin.
