Armed forces ensure integration of Renamo officials

The measure is part of the ongoing peace process in the country

Deputy Defense Minister Patrício José said yesterday that the Mozambican Armed Forces (FADM) have been incorporating officers of the armed wing of Renamo, the main opposition party.

"The Mozambican Armed Forces are following the guidelines provided by their commander-in-chief President Filipe Nyusi, as planned," Patrício José told reporters.

On the other hand, Interior Minister Basílio Monteiro urged the police to ensure that Renamo officials are allowed to join the corporation, pointing out that this is part of the agreements between the government and the main opposition party for the establishment of lasting peace in the country.

The military rank of several Renamo armed wing officers was recently recognized by the Mozambican President, aiming at their integration into FADM command positions.
