Hong Kong government mulls limiting internet access

The Hong Kong government is planning to limit access to the internet, an Executive Council member told AFP on Monday, three days after the enactment of a law banning masks in demonstrations, fueling further protests.

"As long as there are ways to crack down on the riots, the government will not rule out the possibility of placing a ban on the internet," Executive Council member and pro-Beijing politician Ip Kwok-he told AFP.

The internet is a crucial tool for the pro-democracy movement, which uses online forums and encrypted messages to organize its protests.
