The Minister of Women, Family and Human Rights of Brazil, Damares Alves, will travel to the United States (USA) on the 18th to participate in a meeting on religious freedom. The evangelical minister of Bolsonaro is going to speak in Washington about the religious persecutions that the Christians have suffered throughout the world, according to the report today of Radar Online of the magazine Veja.
The invitation to Damares Alves was made by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. The Brazilian minister will be present at the Annual Report on International Religious Freedom.
The participation of the Brazilian minister in the event also serves as proof of the proximity between the presidents of the two countries, Jair Bolsonaro and Donald Trump, also showing the alignment of Brazil's discourse with the United States. According to Veja, the minister should express that Brazil is also willing to defend the interest of Christians.
This is not the first time that the Bolsonaro's government has taken a stand in defense of Christians while attending an international meeting.
