Washington says it expects to sign a partial agreement with Beijing in the coming weeks.

China said on Thursday that trade war talks with the United States are "progressing." The statement comes after Washington said it expects to sign a partial agreement with Beijing in the coming weeks.

Chinese negotiators "remain in close communication" with US colleagues and "negotiations are progressing," a spokesperson for the Chinese commerce ministry said.

"Both sides will continue to push ahead with the negotiations and other work as originally planned. New discussions will take place on Friday," the statement added.
