Buenos Aires, a city besieged by the G20

It is on a high alert that the heads of state and government of the G20 countries and other invited dignitaries are welcomed at the Costa Salguero convention center, on the banks of the River Plate, in an area cut off from the rest of the city by a motorway, a railway line and a police cordon.

To ensure the safety of the 13th meeting of the leaders of the world's 19 largest economies and the European Union, this Friday and Saturday, 22000 police officers are in service. Part of the Argentine capital is interdicted, metro stations and an airport are closed, and the rest of public transport is affected.

Argentina receives for the first time in its history an event with many world leaders, like the American Donald Trump, the Russian Vladimir Putin, the Chinese Xi Jinping, and the Indian Narendra Modi.
