President Jair Bolsonaro announced on Friday that he will travel to China in the second half of the year, and was more open to dialogue with the Asian country, which, in the past, he accused of wanting to "buy Brazil".

"I have confirmed with the ambassador that I will travel to China this year," Bolsonaro told reporters, after a meeting with China's diplomatic representative in Brasil, Yang Wanming.

The Chinese ambassador also confirmed that President Xi Jinping will visit Brazil this year, for the Brics summit (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa), whose date has not yet been decided.
