The announcement was made by Portuguese Defense Minister João Gomes Cravinho.

The Angolan and Portuguese governments have begun contacts today to honor Portuguese soldiers who died in Angola during the colonial war and "were not properly recognized," Portuguese Defense Minister João Gomes Cravinho said today.

Gomes Cravinho, who is in Luanda for a three-day visit to attend the 19th meeting of Defense Ministers of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP), was received today by the Angolan minister of Former Homeland Combatants and Veterans, João Ernesto "Liberdade".
