After Obama, there is also room for Trump and Kim

The restaurant where Obama and Bourdain had lunch is open for Trump and Kim, in case they want to savor the specialties of the house, such as the now famous Obama Combo.

Hanoi hosts the second summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. Less than three years ago, the Vietnamese capital received Trump's predecessor,

Barack Obama, on a visit full of historical meaning, taking into account the troubled past between the two countries. On the margin of the official agenda, an image marked Obama's presence in Hanoi: a lunch with the famous and then-deceased American chef Anthony Bourdain.

The table where the two of them ate is glazed, and on the three floors of the restaurant there are photos of Obama. Going to Bun Cha Huong Lien restaurant has become more than a gastronomic experience. It is an attraction nowadays. Proof of this are the many tourists which add up to the local loyal clients who do not miss an opportunity to savor the traditional dishes of this restaurant, opened since 1993.

The most sought after is the Obama Combo, which is the meal that former President Barack Obama had when he was here. It simply consists of a grilled pork meat dish served in a bowl with rice dough, a roll of fried shrimp and a local beer. All for only 90 thousand dongs (about 3.5 euros).

"It was already one of the most served dishes, but after Obama it has become by far the most popular", says Huong Lien, the owner of the restaurant, with a big smile as she welcomes and greets the intense flow of customers. It's not mid-day yet, and it's almost bursting at the seams. "It has been going like this".

What if Trump and Kim come here? "They will be very well received", she assures. It is known that the leaders of the United States and North Korea will have a private dinner tomorrow after the start of the summit. If they have nowhere to eat lunch on Thursday, Huong Lien has a reserved table, leaving the doubt as to what a Trump-Kim Combo would be.
