Sao Tome and Principe's economy forecast 3.5% growth in 2020

São Tomé and Príncipe's economy is expected to grow at a year-on-year rate of 3.5% in 2020, with the inflation rate forecast to be around 6.6%, said Américo Barros, governor of the central bank of Sao Tome and Principe, when taking stock of the economic year of 2019.

The governor said the expected growth will be the result of the execution of the public investment program, which is funded by the World Bank, the African Development Bank and the People's Republic of China, "among other strategic partners for Sao Tome and Principe."

With inflation accumulated in November last year being 5.7% compared to 8.0% in the same period of 2018, Américo Barros said he expected 2020 inflation to be around 6.6%, which he considers "compatible with the contraction money offer by 5.2%, according to the news agency STP-Press.
