A director of the Russian state-owned company Rosatom has argued that nuclear power is the only short-term solution for Africa's energy deficit
Moscow has offered to help build nuclear power plants."There's not enough energy, nor the capacity to produce it, to supply the continent" and its "desire for growth," Rosatom First Deputy Director Kirill Komarov said at the annual meeting of pan-African bank Afreximbank in Moscow.
According to World Bank data, six out of ten Africans have no access to electricity and the continent produces as much energy as Spain, despite having a population 20 times higher.
