Prime Minister António Costa, after a meeting with the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, says that the situation has changed "significantly" from morning to afternoon and puts civil requisition on the table later this afternoon. He speaks of "non-compliance with minimum services" after 2:30 pm. The most affected region is the Algarve.
"This morning the civil requisition was manifestly unnecessary," said the prime minister, adding that the government is assessing the situation and will shape the application of the civil requisition "business by business, service by service."
