Google announced this Friday "Equiano", its new submarine cable that will connect Portugal to South Africa and, consequently, Africa to Europe, and which should be completed in 2021.
"Today we are introducing Equiano, our new private submarine cable that will connect Africa to Europe. Once completed, the cable will start in Western Europe and cross the west coast of Africa, between Portugal and South Africa," with areas along the route that allow to extend additional connectivity to African countries," according to Google's blog.
"This new cable is fully funded by Google, making it our third private international cable after Dunant and Curie, and the 14th submarine cable investment" at a global level.
