US dollar outflow is the highest in 38 years
In a year marked by strong exchange rate volatility, the outflow of dollars from the Brazilian economy surpassed the inflow by US$ 44.77 billion in 2019, announced the central bank this Wednesday, January 8. This is the largest net foreign exchange withdrawal since the beginning of the historical series, in 1982.
The previous record of net withdrawals had been in 1999, when the flow of exchange - the difference between dollar inflow and outflow - was negative by $ 16.18 billion.
