Beef exports have been automatically suspended following an atypical case of 'mad cow' disease in Mato Grosso

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the suspension is automatic due to an agreement with China and is expected to be lifted soon.

Following the identification of a 'mad cow' disease case in Mato Grosso last week, the Brazilian government has decided to suspend beef exports to China. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the suspension is part of an agreement signed in 2015 between China and Brazil.

The Ministry said the suspension is expected to be lifted soon - as soon as Chinese authorities analyze the documents sent through the Brazilian embassy in Beijing.
