European Investment Bank has focused its investment in Africa in the areas of climate change and health. In 2018 it invested 3.3 million euros in the continent.
The representative of the European Investment Bank (EIB) in Portugal said on Friday that there is "a new wave of entrepreneurship in Africa", advocating the creation of a risk capital ecosystem to develop the continent.
On the 4th and 5th of July the EurAfrican Forum was held in Carcavelos. Kim Kreilgaard, the EIB's representative in Portugal, explained that "Africa has a large venture capital market, the investment in startups has grown ninefold in the last four years, there is a great new wave of entrepreneurship in Africa, of venture capital funds, and we are investing in the creation of a venture capital ecosystem."
