Tim Berners-Lee creates contract to protect and improve the Web

Tim Berners-Lee, the creator of the World Wide Web, was one of the speakers at the opening of the 2018 Web Summit edition.

The inventor of the World Wide Web wants citizens, governments and companies to work together to create a freer internet.

"We need to improve half the world and improve the other half." It was with this sarcastic remark that Tim Berners-Lee, the inventor of the World Wide Web, introduced his new initiative: a nine-point agreement that aims to protect and improve the Internet as we know it.

The #ForTheWeb initiative was announced today in Lisbon during the opening of the 2018 edition of Web Summit.

"I ask for your help to be a part of this. You can join us, and the idea is to solve this problem that we have, which affects people who are online and people who are not. We can do it together," Tim Berners-Lee said.
