The opening of automobile assembly lines in Angola is being negotiated with representatives of Germany's Volkswagen and America's Ford, said the President of the Luanda-Bengo Special Economic Area Development Society.
António Henriques da Silva told Angop News Agency on Thursday that besides assembling some of the products of those brands, with the consequent creation of jobs, the factories are also meant to expand the export radius of these companies.
Should an agreement be reached, the fact that some of the vehicles will be locally assembled will likely lead to the emergence of companies producing spare parts in the country. Moreover, it may also 'lure' other major companies into Angola.
