Amazon surpassed Microsoft today (Jan 7) and became the most valuable company in the world, with a market capitalization of $797 billion (R$ 2.9 trillion) at the end of the trading session. Shares of the tech giant rose 3.4%, closing the day at $1,629,51.

This ended a weekslong reign by Bill Gates' company. On Monday, Microsoft finished up 0.1% with a market capitalization of $784 billion (R$ 2.7 trillion), trading at $102,6.
