Woman survives after being trapped in a car for six days in heat up to 41ºC

Despite her terrible ordeal, Bastide says she feels lucky to be alive. All the time she never lost hope because she thought of her children

During the recent heat wave in Europe

A Belgian woman was found alive after being trapped in her car for six days during the recent heat wave in Europe. Corine Bastide, 45, disappeared near Liege on July 23, two days before temperatures reached 41.7 °C.

Her car overturned in a roadside ditch in a remote area. In the accident, her spine was injured, leaving her unable to leave. Although severely dehydrated, she remained conscious and survived by drinking rainwater.
