The Portuguese restaurant O Castiço has won a "Bib Gourmand".
Macau now has 19 award-winning restaurants, awarded by the Hong Kong Macau Michelin Guide, which presented the 11th edition in the territory. Highlight to the Portuguese restaurant O Castiço, which won a "Bib Gourmand", awarded to restaurants that offer three-course menus for less than 400 patacas (about 43 euros).
In total, the Guide comprises 82 Michelin-starred restaurants, 63 of which are in Hong Kong. Last year, Macau had 18.
"The gastronomy of these regions is one of the richest in the world", with a diversity ranging from "British, Portuguese, Indian, Italian" and Cantonese traits, said the Michelin International Director Gwendal Poullennec during the presentation conference Michelin Guide Hong Kong Macau 2019.
In this new selection for Macau, the restaurants Robuchon au Dôme and The Eight, both in the hotel-casino Grand Lisboa, maintain the three Michelin stars, and the restaurant Jade Dragon, which had two stars last year, has now three.
The new restaurant Alain Ducasse at Morpheus, owned by an internationally renowned chef with more than 20 restaurants around the world, won two Michelin stars at the Macau premiere. The Feng Wei Ju, Golden Flower, Mizumi and The Tasting Room restaurants continue with two stars.
As in last year, Macau has 11 restaurants with a Michelin star: King, Lei Heen, 8 1/2 Otto and Mezzo-Bombana, Pearl Dragon, Shinji by Kanesaka, The Golden Peacock, The Kitchen, Tim's Kitchen, Wing Lei, Ying and Zi Yat Heen.
