Portuguese fashion designer Felipe Oliveira Baptista will be the new creative director of the French luxury brand Kenzo, belonging to the LVMH group, the business group announced in a statement released today.
"Kenzo is contagious freedom and movement," says Filipe Oliveira Baptista, quoted in the statement issued by the French government, published today. "Everything [Kenzo] Takada did was full of joy, elegance and a cold and cheeky sense of humor," added the Portuguese designer, referring to the founder of the brand, also stressing how he "celebrated nature and cultural diversity."
The president of the Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy (LVMH) group, Sidney Toledano, said that "Felipe Oliveira's talent as a designer, his mastery of clothing and his personal roots, originating in very different cultures" are "real assets to give a new creative energy to Casa Kenzo," the group said in the same press release divulged this morning.
Felipe Oliveira Baptista will assume "immediately" the position previously held since 2011 by the duo Carol Lim and Humberto Leon, according to the French group.
