Masp concludes restoration of the work of the Annunciation, by El Greco

The work required a restoration intervention of the pictorial layer, that was wornd down

To perform the restoration, it is necessary not only a technical work, but also deep study on the painter and its brushstrokes.

Three years ago, the Brazilian restorer Regina Costa Pinto Dias Moreira, a professional who works at the Louvre Museum in Paris, started working in partnership with the São Paulo Art Museum Assis Chateaubriand, the Masp, to restore works from the collection. The most recent, in the work Annunciation (about 1600), by the Greek painter Doménikos Theotokópoulos, better known as El Greco, has just been completed.
