Earliest Portuguese painter on display at the Ancient Art Museum

Considered the first Portuguese painter with a documented oeuvre (he is the first painter born in the country whose work is dated prior to Nuno Gonçalves'), Alvaro Pirez d'Évora will be on display at the Ancient Art Museum in Lisbon until March 15. Born in Portugal, he migrated to Tuscany, Italy, in the first half of the 15th century, where he worked from 1410 to 1434 in cities such as Pisa, Lucca, Prato and Volterra.
