Fabio Porchat commented on the Molotov cocktail attack on the Porta dos Fundos office, which took place at dawn on December 24, Christmas Eve
The comment was made in today's O Globo (Dec 30). In the article, the comedian states that "yes, you can poke fun of religion" and defends both freedom of speech and the right to be offended by a joke, provided it does not go against the law.
"I'm sorry to inform you, but yes, you can poke fun of religion. Any religion. You can poke fun of religion, football, politics, my mother, Detran, anything you want. And it's not just me saying this, it's the Brazilian Constitution," the actor says at the beginning of his article.
Both Porchat and video producer Porta dos Fundos have been strongly criticized since the release of the Christmas special 'The First Temptation of Christ' on Netflix. In this episode, Jesus is played by Gregory Duvivier and has a relationship with another man.
