Portuguese language has been added to the American Education program, being considered a relevant language for National Security and the prosperity of the country's economy.

Portuguese has been added to the American scholarship Program in Critical Languages. It is a program of the United States Department of State and it is supported by the Councils for Education.

This decision was announced at the Palcus meeting - Portuguese American Leadership Council, which is holding the first national conference in Washington.
