Yuval Noah Harari, an Israeli scientist, author of Sapiens and Homo Deus, admits to accepting a censored version of his book 21 Lessons for the 21st Century in Russia. According to The Guardian, the historian authorized the substitution of criticism towards Vladimir Putin for criticism to Donald Trump, in the Russian edition of his bestseller, claiming that the Russian authorities did not allow him to publish the original text in that country.
Last week, Newsweek revealed that the Russian translation weakened the author's criticism on the Russian invasion and annexation of Crimea in 2014. In the English version, says the Guardian, Yuval says that we are living in a frightening new era of 'post-truth', giving as an example the annexation of the peninsula.
