Bashar al-Assad cartoon wins World Press Cartoon

Javier Carbajo and Sara Rojo won the World Press Cartoon with a caricature of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in an edition in which Spain won most of the prizes awarded in Caldas da Rainha.

The cartoon of Bashar al-Assad, drawn by two persons, was honored with the grand prize of the 14th edition of the World Press Cartoon (WPC), which "gives the award to a couple of cartoonists for the first time," said the director of the event, António Antunes, to Lusa agency.

The work of the Spanish couple portrayed the president of Syria and stood out in the Drawing category. It was published in the ABC newspaper in Spain in April of 2018.
